Seller’s Market

August 10th, 2005 -- Posted in Gossip, General | 3 Comments »

It’s crazy! There are 31 houses on our little court and everyone is selling - came home today to find another house up for sale. Since April there have been 7 houses up for sale including ours. That’s almost a quarter of the homes on the street! There has been some turnover on the street over the years as there are lots of people from the military and some of the homes are rentals but nothing ever this extreme. Anyway, just glad we got in early so we could sell before there was too much competition! The one that went up today has a fireplace in the basement and four bathrooms! And most of us are the original owners…. so everyone selling has been here 5-7 years…

Mike and Sarita van Dyke

Congratulations to Mike and Sarita who were married yesterday!! The wedding seemed to go off without a hitch…. for them. There was one small hitch for me though. Since Doug was in the wedding party, I was seated with a table of strangers…. none of them showed up so technically I was the only person at my table. Luckily, the only two people I knew were crowded out of their table and came over to join me!! Other than that, the wedding was great…. Doug really enjoyed the huge Indian/Dutch buffet. I really enjoyed the fact that they intertwined speeches and sentiments while everyone was eating that way you weren’t stuck listening to different people speak for two hours straight. We didn’t get to bed until 2 am so I was pleased that they chose to have their wedding over daylight savings and give us an extra hour of sleep.

Irish Girls Are Pretty

Jenn does really silly things. Her thing tonight is a British accent. It’s not that she does it badly - she actually does a good impression. But some of the things she comes up with are baffling. I really don’t know how her brain works. She makes up words, she talks such nonsense but turns it sensical (somehow), and she perpetually makes me shake my head and grin.

I’m reading a book right now written by a British author. It’s a serious book - about a serial killer, but boy those British talk funny. You really need a source for translations

Jenn’s solo discourse was right out of this book… but not so morbid.
