If you ever crave chocolate, you have to read the ultimate hot chocolate recipe at Flying hamsters and other strange tales In the spirit of eating foods with the best flavour and textures, this is something that I could enjoy in moderation.

The Mathematics Genealogy Project tracks students and advisors of everyone who’s received a doctorate in math. Very geeky, but very cool. It’s fun to enter a professor’s name and track backwards. Unfortunately, I never took a university math course (this is where I begin crying) so I just had to pull up random ones from Queen’s.

I went to a workshop today on the The Ellison Machine . WOW!! It is a die cut maker and you can make so many shapes. Many people have a version of this that you can buy at Michael’s and you have to buy all the different die cutter. Well, Queen’s has over 300 die cutters and you can use them for free! Just bring in your own stuff and away you go. It would be great for scrapbookers as well. It also cuts magnets, foam board, aluminum, etc… so many options! Of course the sales rep could make anything and stuff I would never be able to recreate but it still looks fun. There are also cutters that make dotted lines on acitivities (ie. making a box, envelope, card) so that they are easy to fold. WOOHOO!! Can’t wait to make some stuff for my classroom!

This week, I discovered jewellery. I think I used to wear it a lot but then because of my work, I just stopped wearing it. Kids were always pulling on necklaces, etc. so it just wasn’t worth the risk. Now that I am back in school and everyone always tries to look their best, I have started seeing myself as sort of plain. So I have worn a few pieces this week… I mean all of my pieces this week.. I mean, both of my pieces. I don’t know if I will want much but … we’ll see. I think this new obsession started back in August when the bride of the wedding I was in gave me a fantastic bracelet with matching earrings. I love them! We’ll see how long this obessession lasts…I can only wear earrings about every third day or else they irritate me.

It has been said maybe once or twice or a hundred times that I can get a little obsessed about things. Well, two weeks ago, our neighbour took our recycling bin instead of their own… they aren’t even the same! Anyway, I have wanted ours back ever since. I was very disappointed last week as they didn’t put their recycling out but was happy to see that last night, they finally put my bin at the curb! So this morning as soon as the recycling was picked up, I made Doug go out for “Operation Recycling Bin”. I am happy to report that our recycling bin, the sturdy one, is back in our garage awaiting more recycling!! WOOHOO!! Now I just have to decorate it this week so there will never be confusion again!

Doug and I have both been watching the Tour de France. I started getting into it last year and love all the different aspects of the race. There is team trials, individual trials, it’s great! Of course I am following Lance …

Here’s my day so far:
Wake up early and read for an hour or two until Jenn wakes up
Cut the grass and make the yard look purty
Make French Toast for breakfast
Take Wiggler out on Buck Lake for ~ 3 hours (get burned, exercised, and relaxed in the process)
Here’s what’s coming up:
Go out to … it’s bizarre - I cannot remember the name of this restaurant!… uh, Lonestar!
Be visited by Michael - who knows what else we’ll end up doing when he arrives
This is what sunny Saturdays are for!

I seem to have this problem with finishing things… or should I say, not completing things. I seem to lose interest or energy at the end of many things. I go to clean a room, and get everything all out of the closets and then get too tired so I just throw it all back in. I have this big project I have been working on for months… and now that it’s almost finished… I can’t seem to get it done! Argh!! Why am I such a slacker? Afraid to succeed?

I have a few silly addictions, but this one is “great address labels”. I guess it coincides with my “mail” addiction. I love getting and sending mail… and e-mail. So I have always loved stickers for letters and great labels. My only problem is that most great address labels are from US companies that don’t ship to Canada…. until today. I just did a random search and came across Colorful Images which ships to Canada. They have a huge selection and I can’t wait to order some!!
