There is nothing like coming home from work and finding out someone left you a gift of your favourite pie in the refrigerator! If you haven’t been to Anna Mae’s in Millbank, ON, it’s worth the drive. Anyway, our raspberry custard pie is almost gone!

So today at work I saw this handy little tool! Really… what will they think of next. It is a tool to help you ‘roll up the rim’ more easily. It really work. It sort of sliced the rim and then you pull it up and it unrolls using the tool! Crazy!

I haven’t posted for a week so figured I should write something. I saw a Jeep burnt to a crisp today… it was just the frame sitting there still smoking. I survived the first week after March Break - pretty well actually. It felt like I was returning after Christmas, which to me is good because there is less time left! We had a fun birthday for my Mom this week. We went to the Keg which I think I’ve only been to once before. It was quite yummy! Well, another full week ahead and then two four day weeks as Easter is a-coming! Woohoo! It looks like the weather around Easter is going to be chilly. It still has time to change its mind though.

I must decide in the next 12 days whether to renew my physio registration. It’s $600 per year, or $120 per year for an inactive registration, or I can just go cold turkey and drop it for free. I’m trying to clarify the impact of each options, but with inactive and/or resignation, I will need to re-do the horrible written and practical exams for $1500 if I choose to return to clinical practice. I also can’t refer to myself as a registered physiotherapist but as an “inactive physiotherapist” or something silly like that. The question is - will I return to clinical practice, or have I made a permanent career change? I feel absolutely no attraction towards clinical practice - my desire for it has only decreased over the past couple of years. But is it something I want to lose? I’ll still have my degree, but I’ll lose the backup career option and the title. Then there’s the requirement for professional education.

There are a few moments in life where you remember something even without a photo. Today we had one of those moments… near the Kissing Bridge is an Old Order Amish church which we have been by a few times. Today we happened to go by right as church was getting out. There were horses and buggies leaving in all directions! It was quite the site. We continued on to the bridge (which was our destination) and we got to see the buggies go across the bridge as well. Something that made me giggle slightly was all the black cars with more modern Amish driving in the opposite direction as their church let out. Anyway, it was quite a site and we definitely felt out of place! I was a good girl and did not take any pictures.

Ah… four days of shopping, some rest and relaxation! There were two definite highlights of my trip - one day the temperatures reached 22 degrees!! I had barefeet outdoors - it was great! The second highlight was the Bath and Body Works outlet. My Mom had warned me that it wasn’t that great - if they carried something you loved then you were in luck, but they had limited selection, etc. Well, it appears they have changed their stock since my Mom’s last visit there… we went there twice!! Wow! The selection!! I was on a high for quite a while after being in there! WOohoo! The weather was great - the forecast was never correct but that worked in our favour. Anyway, my Mom and I had a great time and now we need a few days of rest to recover from all of the shopping!

Yeah!! It is here!! The nice thing is that I am ready for March Break but it didn’t feel like it was time… better than needing it and counting the minutes down until it arrives. So I started my break today with a massage!! Then a little Starbuck’s and some shopping. I leave Sunday to go to Frankenmuth with my Mom. I love the atmosphere there and am looking forward to getting away. So the poor boy will be here by himself… He loves his bachelor days he gets a few times a year!

So we went for a walk down by Guelph Lake …. very cold, wind chill, etc… and what did I see? A robin!!! Could it be? Spring is here? The bird was VERY fat… I guess he didn’t starve this winter! It was nice to hear the water running, and see the Canadian Geese as well. I think spring might come this year!

My birthday celebrations usually span over two weeks as it falls around March Break! My birthday isn’t until Wednesday but my festivities began today. I went out for lunch with my parents and Doug! I even got a free lava cake with a sparkler!! We were on our way to the Butterfly Conservatory when we ran into traffic on the 401 - so we pulled over at the McDonald’s and did two caches there (I must comment that I found them both). The conservatory is small but it was nice to go somewhere that seemed like summer for a change!! We did about three laps of the greenhouse there…. we took lots of pictures too. We hadn’t planned on going there today but luckily Doug had packed his camera! More birthday adventures to come! Woohoo! I hate getting older but who can refuse a celebration once in a while.

Well, it appears March has come in like a lion. I knew that buses were canceled today but it was funny that many people didn’t - parents dropped off kids because the ‘bus didn’t show up’. Anyway, who knew when it was sunny and dry this morning that we would have a storm by 2pm! Kids were picked up in a steady stream from noon on. Doug and I are both at home and cozy for the evening. We were both home early and had homemade bread, chili and Brock and Julie’s Chocolate Chip Square’s (again… YUMMM!). We have three dwarfs in our back yard and poor Doc has his eyes just peaking out at the moment… we were excited that on the weekend the snow was down to their waist! Oh well… I was born in a blizzard so I should expect snow in March!
