My Bike

October 30th, 2006 -- Posted in General | 1 Comment »

I finally had my motorcycle photoshoot:

It makes it look a little orange-y, but it’s the sunshine and maybe my camera. It’s actually not - just red. And here’s my action shot:

TV Guide

October 29th, 2006 -- Posted in General | 3 Comments »

It has come to my attention that TV Guide is getting rid of their magazine and will only provide an online version.  How stupid is that?  I mean, I don’t think there many people like Doug and I that sit with our laptops in front of the TV… hee hee.  Also, how many people have laptops?  Do they expect people to run back and forth from their computer to see what is on?  Also, many people love doing the crossword!  And what about those that don’t even have computers?  I also give this magazine as a gift to TWO people!  Now I will have to find something new… My brother is one that receives it and I think he is going to be a tad upset when he learns this news.  He is addicted to the TV Guide!

Fall Back..

Yeah… it’s Daylight Savings Time weekend… the good one where we gain time! Love it. Someone was telling me that next year it will be three weeks earlier as it will save energy some how…

Work is still crazy and busy as now we are in report card season! Yikes. Doug and I book time to see each other on the weekends!

Our latest fundraiser is Christmas cards and note pads, if you are interested in any let me know by Sunday night! I know, short notice but it’s a short fundraiser. Our school had to tear down it’s climber last year as it was unsafe so the money goes toward a new climber/playground structure. Noteable Graphics

Stress?

Does sleeping for 11 hours mean that you have a little bit of stress in your life?  Just wondering….

Happy Anniversary!

October 20th, 2006 -- Posted in General | 1 Comment »

Well, it is our one year anniversary!  We have lived in our house for a year today!  Crazy.  Life just seems to be going faster and faster…  I wish it would slow down a little.  We did spend our first night in our house on our thermarests and sleeping bags.  Our cable was installed the first night and the cable guy lent us an extension cord so we could use our computers the first night (as we had NOTHING else!).  We fed him pizza and he did a few extras for us!  Woohoo!   Guelph is growing on me.  I like how there is SO much around Guelph but I still miss downtown Kingston… it was just a perfect walk, great restaurants and great shopping.  There are definitely more outlets this way which I love.

Ho Hum

Just plugging away at work.  The fall is always super busy… I just finished busy week/end number one of 6 of the school year… my first set of IEP’s were handed in today.  They have totally changed the format so took a lot longer than expecting.  On a plus, I didn’t have the same problems as many others ie. logging in the day they were due to find that none of your work was there!  Yikes!

Short Weeks

October 11th, 2006 -- Posted in General | Comments Off

I love four day weeks but especially when it has the Monday off.  All week you are a day behind and all of a sudden it’s Friday!!  Woop!  This is a busy week for me as I have reports to finish and then in four weeks I have to have report cards done!  Yikers!!  Busy busy busy.  My classroom still doesn’t have a settled feeling as there has been changes on a weekly basis so just when I get the groove I have to deal with a new curve ball… hopefully soon I will be able to get it in the zone.

Home

Well, after my whirlwind tour, I am home.  I spent two days in Picton and then one day/night in Kingston.  I really miss Kingston… I miss its familiarity.  I hit all of my old haunts….  nothing too exciting… just the comfort of a ‘home’ feeling.  It’s nice to know where to go, where to park, where to shop…  That will come here too but it’s just not here yet.  There are definite positives about our new place but it basically comes down to I hate change and even after a year I am still kind of begruding change.  Okay… so for something positive, I love the farms around here and watching them change through the seasons.

Lucky

Please don’t hate me, but I do tend to have lucky phases… as evidenced by yet another door prize today!  I don’t think I have lottery luck or money luck but I do tend to win a lot of draws, etc.  This past year I have won three things!  One was just to a ‘first year teacher’ (kid book), the next I was the first door prize at a conference (autographed book)… and today was another door prize (fleece vest). Oh… make that four as I also won a fancy coffee maker at Doug’s work party!  So… I have some luck.  I sometimes just know that I am going to win or am shocked when I don’t!  It’s just weird.  My favourite was still the GIANT shop vac I won at the Ploughing Match… and we lived in an apartment.  Funny.  But I have never won anything at Lick’s no matter how many times I fill out a ballot … Hmm…  Anyway… I’m hoping for another draw tomorrow!

Kitchener-Waterloo Blackberries??

So RIM may be buying the Pittsburgh Penguins, and if a new arena isn’t built, then he may look to move the team to this area. Admittedly, I heard this on TSN, and any broadcaster that employs Tie Domi has some serious reputability issues (Tie looks so awkward, but I must say he’s less annoying than Pierre McGuire). Dan’s the only one who cares about this stuff, but I bet he really cares if KW were to get an NHL team - right, Dan?

October

Is it really October already?  I mean… doesn’t September usually come first?  The past month went by crazy fast.  It’s Thanksgiving already….  it is beautiful outside though… lots of pretty colours and all.  I am spending a few days in Picton area for a conference!  Yeah. So am looking forward to seeing Sandbanks and the trees, etc.  I drove in tonight so didn’t see much in the dark.

Massasauga

Here are some pics from my trip this weekend in Massasauga Provincial Park. Here’s a representative sample:

Here’s the kmz file (with alphabetized annotations! — just ignore the fact that there are 2 m’s and 3 p’s, okay?) if you want to view my trip on Google Earth (color-coded by speed). I’m dabbling with annotating the trip, too. [DONE]
