My friend Robin just got offered a job at Queen’s University! Yeah. She just finished her degree in Disability Studies (same as me) and got a job in the equity department (I believe). I’m so excited for her!!!
Well, it’s back to school in less than a week (and here I am not sleeping already). I did have back to school nightmares for a lot of July and then finally started to relax a little. I returned to work after our holiday to find they had forgotten me on the schedule so I still don’t have a timetable which means I can’t arrange any integration for my kids yet…. GRRRR. I also showed up to my classroom ready to work to find all my furniture stacked in a corner so spent all of Monday moving furniture instead of doing the work I had planned on doing. I am feeling very panicky. It always works out (Um… well, with last year it did). I am off for a massage in the morning… my back is still recovering from the 6000 km of driving and camping on my leaky thermarest. I really hope to ground myself this year and get home at more reasonable hours a few nights each week. It’s tricky when I have 10 different programs to run!
Lawnwork - the Hockey Way. A great way to get you in the mood and physical condition to play hockey again.
So we finished our whirlwind trip yesterday - we left August 11th… so we were gone two weeks. I think that is the longest trip we have taken together. We drove something like 5550 km and only had one flat tire. We started out Friday night and stopped in Belleville at the new Beaupre mansion. Then headed off to Quebec City for three days. We drove through New Brunswick and stayed at the national park there where I saw my first bear!! Not too exciting since he was near our campsite! There was a beautiful boardwalk on the drive down the New Brunswick coast… continue reading »
… to the east coast. We spent two weeks out east and loved it! Okay, we’re not really moving, but it is so beautiful out there that it is tempting. We went to Quebec, New Brunswick, PEI, Nova Scotia, New Hampshire…and home again. We have some pics and stories to write about but that will have to wait until we get a good night sleep in our own bed!
Just a side note… there were over 600 spam comments to moderate so I just chose to mark them all as spam… if you did comment and I accidentally deleted it, I apologize!
Long weekends - glorious. Yesterday we went geocaching with friends from Doug’s work. The weather was great (sunny but a breeze) and the bugs were low! We ventured around Guelph Lake, Fergus, and Elora. We didn’t find some of them which was a little frustrating, especially when we read that others had found them the same day! Grr.. We went down the gorge - I had never been there so it was quite neat to see. Afterward we went out to Bryan and Amanda’s for a fantastic BBQ! Yummm!  I think I am still stuffed.
Mocha Frappuccino
2 teaspoons instant coffee granules
1 cup milk
2 scoops frozen yogurt
6 ice cubes
1 squirt of chocolate syrup
1 banana
Blend until smooth. Drink it up.
I gave into pressure - I bought Crocs. Well, fake ones. But it wasn’t the shoe I wanted… it was the decorations for them!! There are now charms you can buy that fit into the holes. I was at the Port Elgin flea market and couldn’t resist the charms! I bought them for ‘friends’ and then ended up buying a fun pair of floral pattern shoes at Giant Tiger!
The beach yesterday was FANTASTIC! When I got to Underwood, it was pouring rain… downpour! My friend, Dianna, was apologzing for not calling and letting me know it was raining. I explained I just wanted the day away… no worries. So we took our two umbrellas and headed out figuring the flea market would be closed. Anyway, by the time we checked out a few stores in Port Elgin, the rain had passed…. and the flea market was still on. By the afternoon it was scorching… but a great breeze! So the beach was great as there were waves but it was still hot.
