We might be the winners of the skunk problem this year. Last year the skunk made homes under the front porches of the neighbours on either side of us. They both had to dig and put chicken wire a few feet down to get rid of them. The eventually moved in across the road under someone else’s porch. It has been digging a little under ours (we’re assuming it’s the skunk again) so we will have to find a way to deter it before it has its babies. Argh!! And Doug will be leaving me soon so we better get the problem solved before he goes away. Luckily we don’t go in and out the front door very often. Poor paper boy though….

Breeding a Generation of Wimps. is a great article my friend told me about. Kids can’t do anything anymore without protective gear… that is, if they are allowed to do it at all.

Here are some photos from our day at Frontenac Provincial Park.

Our friends Jen and Jamie called us to go for a short hike with them… 2-3 km in Frontenac Provincial Park and have a little picnic. It was a perfect day for a 4.5 hour hike… umm.. probably at least 10 km. I think we need to teach them distance. My feet are VERY sore. On a positive side, we saw great waterfalls with the spring thaw! I will post pictures later. Also, I thought it would be very muddy but the ground was still a little frozen so the muddy areas were pretty crunchy. It was just gorgeous today. We were hiking in our t-shirts!

I don’t spend very much time or money on my hair so was shocked to hear how much money people at work spend on their hair. They were comparing prices and I heard “$110, that’s not bad”. Hello??? That is a shopping spree… three dinners out… all for something that is going to grow out. People tell me I should add highlights to my hair… not for $100!!

Some amazing pictures of the area of New England. In 2 weeks I’m heading down to Boston - in a rental car, alone, both ways. I’m planning out the trip, and New England is absolutely incredible! Any suggestions of routes? I’m currently thinking of the Kancamagus Highway, but that’s only the first great idea I’ve had.

I took a student to a Snoezelen Room today. The chair that is displayed on the first page of the site is also in the room where we went. It feels really neat when you sit in it…. kind of like being on a little roller coaster and it if spins while I am in it I feel like I will hurt. Anyway, this student wanted me to spin and spin it for her. She loved it!! Another teacher was there with me and we kept spinning her around thinking how this would make us both ill! Anyway, she giggled and smiled away like I hadn’t seen in a long time which was great to see! It was my first great day at work in a very long time. My annual “This is what it’s all about” day! And hey, I get to do this once a week till the end of the school year.

In a town that is so transient, it is vital to make friends with the few locals because you know they will never move away like the other friends you have made. Well, I have a new friend Emily who is a local…. she is great. It’s just that every time we go out we run into about three people she knows so we never get any of our socializing in. The best was last weekend we went to Starbuck’s to “study” and we ended up chatting with two of her friends. The locals seem to know everybody! Kingston isn’t a small town… yet it is. I pretty much always see one person I know and I haven’t lived here that long… it’s just that I am usually hiding from those people rather than running up to say hi!

My new favourite show is What Not to Wear. I actually have learned things… especially that I need to improve my wardrobe!

I had to go for routine bloodwork last week… just one little vile. The technician did quite a number on me. This is why I don’t donate blood. I guess my veins are invisible… or small… but she missed the first time but instead of trying again she just kept wiggling that needle around and around and around… till I almost passed out. Then she gave up but was poking around the same spot to try again in the same arm!! I gave her my left one instead. There was no way I was going to let her try again in my right. When I got home I had ice on my arm for about an hour and it hurt for most of the week. I didn’t put ice on my left and it was the one that bruised. I can’t imagine what my right would have looked like had I not iced it. Next time I will wait and bring my requisition to Kingston! I have had excellent service there and they haven’t missed yet!

Doug and I have been set up to look bad…. and it would have worked except we found out about it. There was this event that we weren’t invited to, but it was made to look like we were invited but didn’t show up. Interesting. I wonder how many other events have taken place that we didn’t know about that we were ‘invited’ to.

Well, I am back from my week away. I spent a few days in Frankenmuth with my Mom. Here are some photos from my trip. No real pictures of people just a lot of stuff that I liked at Bronners World’s Largest Christmas Store.

My teeth (or at least the holes) are 99% better - I’m off pain meds, they’re not bleeding nor tender, and I can brush freely. It’s only taken 2 weeks.
So Jenn’s away for March break again - gone to Frankenmuth to Christmas shop (yeah, she’s a bit cuckoo). And I’ve got a couple of days lieu time to use up so I’m off today. Take away 2 of my 3 obsessions (Jenn, work) and I’m left with my only remaining obsession - computers. I have other hobbies but this is the time of the year where I can’t really motivate myself to do my winter hobbies (woodworking/home renovations and cooking) and it’s too early to do my summer hobbies (gardening, biking) so I’m in limbo. Maybe I gotta get into gaming. Ooooh, Jenn would kill me.
Anyways, off to get my haircut.

I exchanged a birthday gift I got… but I did tell the person. I managed to get a great deal though. Emily had bought me a small mug from Starbuck’s because they were out of the large ones. Well, when I went last night, the had large ones again so asked to exchange it and pay the difference. Well, because one was on sale, and I explained that the small one was probably on sale too… anyway … it was easier to do a straight exchange so I got a big mug for the price of the small one!! It’s very pretty too. Emily has one in red and I have the same pattern in blue!

Well, my birthday is this weekend, and according to everyone I talk to, I am turning 30. When you say you are turning 29, they automatically round up. It’s sad how my 20’s are over already when I still have a year left *sigh*. Well, I have been practicing saying that I am 30 for the past year because I figured it would take at least two years of practice… but now according to society, I already am 30. I pretty much just tell everyone that I am turning 29 for the first time.
