We recently wrote a blog about our bad experience at Dunn’s Deli in Kingston. Well, on our stroll by it today, we saw that it is now closed due to their failure to pay rent!

Well, it turns out that I do have all the right courses for a minor. So I will graduate with a major in Disability Studies and a minor in (still learning the title so excuse me while I look it up… )… Family Support and Community Practice. Woohoo!!!

Here I am two months from graduating and I get a pamplet in the mail today saying that we have a new “minor’ option. We didn’t really have minor options so I never looked into it. The killer is, is that I am one course short of a minor. Most of the courses I took fall into all the right categories. I am begging that some other course will count but knowing schools, I doubt it.
But am I making a big deal out of nothing? Do minors really mean much?? What do people think??

Well, today I spent money at the garage sale. I bought a pair of CCM skates for myself. I have wanted to get ‘boy’ skates for a while and just haven’t found any cheap ones. A woman at work had a great pair that were only a year old that her son had grown out of. I got first dibs on them!! They were a hot item! Can’t wait to try them this weekend!

… there won’t be much left in my house! I made $30 this morning before 9 am! Am I a superstar or what??
Got my hair re-cut today. I had it cut last Monday but it was just too long still (never thought I would hear myself say that). My hairdresser was glad to see me as she was having a VERY slow day. I am quite happy with my new cut! I love crazy Laura! She is the best…!

Well, I made about $25.00 this week and my cubbie sale and only spent 50 cents!! Then today, a check arrived from the used bookstore… I sold some books!! Woohoo!! Who needs a second job when you can just sell your stuff! (and I have lots of stuff to sell - ask my mother!) This way I can make room for my birthday presents.

Well, it is less than two weeks until Doug loses his wisdom…. teeth that is. My only concern is that the surgeon is upstairs in the mall… no elevator. A five footer should have fun getting a six ‘drugged’ footer down the stairs. Luckily it’s in the Wal-Mart plaza so I will have a place to wander while he is in surgery… My gym is also in that mall… but who really wants to go there.

I made $3.25 at my garage sale today!! For a weekly total of $7.50. My cubbie neighbour also had a sale today… Her prices were a little high… $2.00 for a can of Chunky Soup… the point of a garage sale is to get a deal not charge what you paid for it!

… or should I say “cubbie sale”. I joked around at work on Friday that I was going to have a garage sale in my cubbie… my 1×1 box at work that I keep my stuff. So today I brought in a couple of things and I sold out!! Now everyone thinks this is a great idea and are going to have sales in their cubbies tomorrow. One person might even sell preserves! No one wants to go to the work of having a full blown garage sale, so this way I make money and things go to my friends! I made $4.25 today.

We spent the day in Ottawa. Our first stop was Jack Astor’s for lunch. Of course we had the garlic cheese pan bread (I thought of you Anne!)! They also had the best fajita’s I have ever had. The chicken was great and they didn’t fill the pan with onions… they actually had lots of green peppers in there. I had to pay extra for cheese but that is only with the lunch size. Our next stop was IKEA where we always see things we want to buy and never do… some day. Off to MEC we went where we found some great sales!! Some stuff was marked regular price that was lower than the catalogue price. I got a new quick dry shirt and Doug got a pair of pants. We also got a spill-guard for our Nalgene bottle that makes the hole smaller in the wide mouth bottle so I’m not such a big slob.

I went for bloodwork this week and wondered when was the first time I went for bloodwork alone? Then it made me wonder about when I drove alone for the first time… went to the doctor alone… the dentist… It seems your parents are there for everything and then one day you start doing these things by yourself. I don’t really remember when it all happened but it did. Weird.

Just wanted to wish everyone a Happy Valentine’s Day. Doug came home from work last night with my favourite butter tarts from a bakery in Odessa. Yumm!! I had already snacked on Valentine’s treats at work… and eaten out with my favourite cab driver… so needless to say, I was a little full last night and ended up having a tummy ache.
We hope to go skating on the Rideau Canal this weekend. We try to get there a couple of times each winter and we haven’t been there yet! Yummy Beaver Tails!

I just had a telemarketer call at 9:30 PM! What do they think this is?? A 24 hour society?? I answered in my ’sleeping’ voice because no one should be calling after nine unless it’s an emergency. She continued on in her chipper voice as if she couldn’t tell I was ‘asleep’. I told her she had woken me up and to never call me again and take me off her list. She said ’sorry ma’am”. That was her other mistake… calling me Ma’am.
Speaking of what not to call me… someone at work called me Jenny yesterday. I told her politely never to do that again… and she still did. This morning she called me Jenny again… and I told her nicely not to call me that…. so she did again! So I turned to someone and said “I don’t think she is getting the message”…. after which she turned and said “I got it loud and clear” and stormed off. She was quite ticked that I didn’t want her calling me Jenny… not sure why. Oh well!!
Tomorrow is filled with Valentine’s festivities at work so I better go get some beauty sleep before the next telemarketer calls!

I got to hang out in Kindergarten today and had a great time. Little kids are hilarious!! One kids’ journal entry was “This is my Mommy having a girl baby”.. I guess she has a baby brother and really wants a sister. We also played duck duck goose in gym which was fun. I get to go to their Valentine’s party on Friday!!

When I don’t understand something, I tend to just ignore it and hope I will figure it out. I have this assignment… umm… rather large assignment that I don’t really understand. I guess we are getting the final outline shortly but that doesn’t really help that I have ignored it for the past little while. I thought a major part would be the lit. review but it’s actually a misc. area called “content” that is worth the most. What could ‘content’ be??? It’s been a free assignment so no assignments are going to follow the same pattern but I’m a little worried about what my ‘content’ section should incorporate. AHHHH!!! *deep breath*. I will be talking to my instructor later this week…. she loves my project so hopefully that love will still be there when she reads the write-up of it.

I’m a little behind but I just learned today that Roger Peterson left Breakfast Television (over a month ago!!). How sad. I saw him in person last time I was in Toronto…. Anyway, I guess he got a news anchor job in Vancouver!

We were off to Hartington, ON today for a day of winter play! Our friends live up there so we went to their place to enjoy all of the snow. We went cross-country skiing and ‘portaging’. The snow was VERY deep and Doug helped make trails in some spots. We had to take our skiis off in one spot to hike up this hill… it was SOOO deep! Did I say that yet? Anyway, I managed to make an idiot of myself by making some really great falls. Supposedly I had the most entertaining falls of all of their friends so far. Most people just fall while I do it with some pizzazz! One time my left ski got caught in the snow while my right ski kept going down the hill… ouch! My friends favourite was when she was coming down a hill behind me and told me to move so I was trying to get out of her way and ended up falling backwards with my skis in the air…. she thought it was funny. I’m sure it was also entertaining trying to see me get up! Anyway, I am sure I am going to be quite sore tomorrow… I think my arms will hurt the most from taking them in and out of foot deep snow. Anyway, we had a lot of fun… made pizzas and had chocolate fondue!

… I didn’t have to ride in the cab! For once, they announced that all “transportation” was cancelled… not just buses. The cab was there waiting for me but I went to the principal and was told that it wa cancelled! There is nothing quite like riding in a cab when the roads are bad… My student did show up which was fine… it just made my day that I didn’t have to go out in the freezing rain.
