February 27th, 2003 -- Posted in Silliness | No Comments »

I got my first birthday card in the mail yesterday!! I love mail which means I love birthdays because it means mail!! It was a great card from my parents filled with confetti. One week till my birthday!! Woohooo. I have been scoping out what I can get for free around town… $10 off dinner at Whiskey Willy’s… free dessert at a lot of places but I think you have to get dinner there. Hmm… Instead of a birthday cake this year I think I want the Treatzza Pizza from Dairy Queen. I really love the Peanut Butter Fudge one!!

Jenn took some amazing pictures of the aftermath of the ice storm. It was funny - we both had intentions of taking the camera to work to take some pictures while there… she did, I forgot. We’ll try to upload some more to show you how Ice Storm ‘03 (as opposed to Ice Storm ‘98) looked.

I love Dollarama! Everything in

February 24th, 2003 -- Posted in Misc | No Comments »

I love Dollarama! Everything in the store is just a dollar! And they always have such neat stuff. They often get end of the line products and today while I was in there I saw that they had World Youth Day bags in there. They are the ones that the pilgrims all wore across the city that had one strap that went across the chest. My best buy ever there was a few boxes of Christmas cards that were name brand. I like buying seasonal rubber stamps there as well. I think I was a little late for St.Patty’s Day stuff as there was slim pickings. This will be my first working St. Patty’s day in quite a few years and a lot of people are going all out so I want to fit in!!

Daily personal reads: Brock (who’s doing very well with being a regular poster, and finding that balance of integrating personal and gaming reports), Patti & Clarence (Patti’s posts are so funny, and the facts she comes up with are great commentaries), Karen (finally back from a hiatus), and Trudy (still learning to not forget to post). Well, that’s just about all my online friends… sigh. Any other friends of mine with webpages? I get lots of offers from people that claim to be my friends (like Jenny and Brittany), but they all have dirty pictures or are selling things like penis enlargers, viagra, software, or email addresses - well, beggars can’t be choosers. And who am I to say that they’re not real friends - I’m sure they’ll keep emailing me even when times get tough.

When booking your massage therapy

February 22nd, 2003 -- Posted in Misc | No Comments »

When booking your massage therapy appointment, the key is to get the last appointment of the day.. then bring up exciting topics for the last few minutes so they go over your time. Also, finding a chatty therapist helps as well!! I think my one hour massage was almost an hour and a half yesterday!

February 22nd, 2003 -- Posted in Misc | No Comments »

How can two people in the same house have two entirely different views of the week? As Thursday approached, I said “It’s FINALLY Thursday” and Doug said “It’s already Thursday”. Well, I am sure we are both glad the week is over, especially since Doug hasn’t had a day off in two weeks. No big plans for the weekend so will lay low and catch up on our tv shows.

I picked up a nickel today out of the dirt, and it was from 1923…. neat.

February 19th, 2003 -- Posted in Misc | No Comments »

Is it a good sign when you get into a cab and black smoke is coming out of the back seat? It turns out that the wiring in the automatic windows had a short. Luckily it was just the return trip that I couldn’t breathe for!! I got a sucker out of the deal so that’s okay.

Ah, the sweet smell of March Break in the air. Travel brochures coming in the mail, discount coupons… *sigh*.. Gotta love it. Doug will have his March Break in April this year. The secret to a happy marriage is to take separate vacations!! .. and some together of course!

February 15th, 2003 -- Posted in Misc | No Comments »

Woohoo!! I am not striking and I am getting a nice raise! It really isn’t a nice time of year to strike. I really thought the vote could go either way as it seemed many were uneducated about the new contract and there was a lot of confusion. I will definitely be looking forward to that retro cheque which goes back to August 2002!

Happy Valentine’s Day!! It will

February 14th, 2003 -- Posted in Misc | No Comments »

Happy Valentine’s Day!! It will be quite a yummy day indeed. At work, I had a chocolate basket delivered from my parents!! And then last night, Doug came home with the infamous “World’s Best Butter Tarts”. He drives by the bakery every day but we had never had them. So…. we tried one last night and wow, they are awesome. We saved the rest for today!

Now that Doug has found out what he wants to do with his life, I need to find my calling!! He’s younger than me so I was supposed to find mine first!!!

February 13th, 2003 -- Posted in Misc | No Comments »

I think reflexology is a big farce…. as if tickling my toes will clear my sinuses. Anyway, yesterday I got to go to a free reflexology treatment and wow, if you like a good foot massage I would recommend it. I had to put up with “my your adrenals are tight!” but the actual massage was great.

A girl at work got a gift of samplings from this beauty store and didn’t have time to use it so she gave it to me. I think I will skip the third torture session which involves permanent hair removal. The lady assured me that the freezing was great but really, do I want to put myself in that much pain only to have to go back for more?

I really truly know what

February 11th, 2003 -- Posted in Misc | No Comments »

I really truly know what I want to do for the rest of my life! Since about 2nd year of university, I’ve been thinking that physio is a nice stepping stone for my real career. I’ve experimented, and flip-flopped, and tried to diversify since then while still meeting the basic requirements (trying to do them as well as I possibly can) of my job. Until now. I’ve always known that I want to do my masters in something health related… and I have always been torn between my passion (computers and the internet), and my love (patient care), but nothing seems to combine the two. Until along came Applied Health Informatics. It’ll be a couple years yet (due to the dirthly load of student loans), but that gives me a chance to develop some skills, build my CV, research schools and programs, and improve my financial security - but then, oh baby.

Timing can be such a

February 11th, 2003 -- Posted in Misc | No Comments »

Timing can be such a sadistic fellow. I had an idea that was developing over the past year, then all of a sudden whammo - a revelation that inspired me to bump it to the next level, to the do-able phase, where the benefits (financial and satisfaction) are large. Over the next week my proposal takes form, and on Sunday the chocolate and caramel sauces are drizzled heavily over the ice cream. It’s delicious. My free time is filled with dreaming and imagining this amazing reward. The next day, a press release states that someone else just implemented my idea. Not only is my implementation months behind the other guy, but it shmucks my enthusiasm at it’s peak. If he had been a little faster I would never have noticed, until my next next big idea came (then I might still be behind someone else). It’s all a race, and I think I’m in first place, I see the finish line, then over the loud speaker I hear “… and in second place, is Doug!” Sigh. Well, on a more positive note - it’s not a race, or rather it’s like the Tour de France. I may have come in second this leg, but I’m better on the hills than he is and I will surpass him before he realizes it, with an even better plan that no one has come up with - eventually it will be unique, and someone behind me will be frustrated for a change.
