Oh, I saw something else

November 30th, 2002 -- Posted in Misc | No Comments »

Oh, I saw something else to add to my Christmas list today at Business Depot. I have wanted Winnie the Pooh address labels for SOOOO long. Anyway, they have a whole kit there with CD and paper to make them. It looks great!!

Why is it that when you remember events from long ago, when you don’t have pictures of it either, that your memory includes you in it - wouldn’t you remember it from your own viewpoint, rather than from an external point? Maybe it’s your aura or spirit that remembers and it floats around you like a ghost. Hmm??

I redid the graphics/layout on my personal blogger: Cognitickle It’s some of my most creative work (although, admittedly I’m not smart enough to come up with the ideas entirely on my own - I just spent massive amounts of time to make it mine by manipulating graphics and presenting content, while combining concepts from many different sites, through examples and documentation). Check it out (I make no promises that it’ll look good on your browser, in fact, I kinda doubt that it will work with anything other than Internet Explorer).

Our friends baby is in ICU and are waiting for results to see if it is a “bad” or “good” tumor. If it is good, the baby will have chemo till May… if it is bad, it will be longer.

What a long week at work!! Just when I thought it wouldn’t get worse .. it did… each day!! Anyway, the weekend is finally here and I can have a reprieve. It’s not that I don’t get paid enough to do what I do… it’s more that I can’t believe what I do sometimes.

“Just took the time to locate your Web page…keep your eyes and ears open because you KNOW that I owe you BIG time. Maybe I’ll start with only a lump of coal in your stocking…..but that would be too easy…I’ll think of something ! Love you anyway, Sharon”
[I’m not afraid of you!]

Our Christmas tree was up

November 27th, 2002 -- Posted in Misc | No Comments »

Our Christmas tree was up at the beginning of November. People as us why we put it up so early… I think it’s because we enjoy Christmas. I also think it is because you enjoy it and then you get pretty busy and then you get in the holiday spirit again. If you waited until the week before Christmas you could only enjoy it for a week and then Christmas would be over. Christmas seems to be coming rather quickly this year. 27 days until Christmas!

November 26th, 2002 -- Posted in Misc | No Comments »

It’s getting ridiculous when “mothers with small children” get their own parking spots. CBC was talking about this - and defending it! The rationale was that they can’t be away from their children for long to put away the carts. So — put these spots near the far-away cart storage areas. There’s no reason why they should be exempt from walking because of a choice they made. Why should they not have to walk the extra 20 feet, when an 80 year old grandmother who doesn’t qualify for disabled parking pass has to? There should be some things that make them earn the child benefit payments they get monthly. I don’t even understand the “expectant mothers” parking spots — so they can’t walk 20 feet to the door, but they can wander the malls all day while you and I pay for their unemployment/employment insurance coverage while off on their mat leave. I think we should go back to the original “parking for disabled” (”The applicant must be unable to walk without assistance for more than 200 metres (218 yards) in eight minutes or less without great difficulty or danger to his or her health or safety”). Even these requirements are being abused - which only takes away from the ones that really need/deserve it. Next thing you know there will be spots for “fat people”, “people who have been told by their doctor to get some exercise”, or “those who don’t like getting wet in the rain”.

My Mom has been here

November 23rd, 2002 -- Posted in Misc | No Comments »

My Mom has been here this weekend… and we went shopping as usual. We went to a craft show at CFB Kingston and it was great. It was in quite a spacious room which was nice as you didn’t feel cramped and weren’t pushing your whole way through. We both managed to find quite a few Christmas gifts. I still haven’t found a gift for my secret person for my work gift exchange. Hmm…

Would you like a hug??

Would you like a hug?? — it was a really cute little bear… but it got taken down from JBusby because of blackmail. Sad.

34 days until Christmas! Yikes!

34 days until Christmas! Yikes! People always ask why I put all our decorations up so early. I think in early November you are in the spirit and then it disappears for a while as you rush around to get stuff done… then it hopefully comes back in time for Christmas. If you don’t start early, you might not get enough time to enjoy it all! We are pretty much done our shopping just a few things left to do. Oh now.. I guess I should get busy and figure out what to get Doug for his birthday since it comes BEFORE Christmas.

November 17th, 2002 -- Posted in Misc | No Comments »

I was invited to play hockey with the Tackaberry guys last night. I played on Friday night too, and both times I think I did alright. Scored a couple of goals in each game, but the important thing is that I’m feeling like I understand the dynamics of the game from the perspective of the player much better now. And I’m not dead halfway through the game like I have been the past couple of years — maybe the weight loss.

We bought a digital camera

November 17th, 2002 -- Posted in Misc | No Comments »

We bought a digital camera yesterday - Fuji Finepix 2600 Zoom: 2 megapixels, 16 Mb card, 1.8″ viewscreen, 2 batteries, comes with charger, webcam functions, 3x optical, 2.5x digital zoom, … a nice little camera. I got it for $55 less than the Future Shop price, too… We’ve been taking some pictures with it and it’s doing a great job. So obviously, we’ll be uploading more soon.

We just found out that one of our friends new baby has cancer. The prognosis sounds good but if you could remember them in your prayers that would be great and I’m sure they would appreciate it.

Just when you find a great snack it gets discontinued. Mars was making these granola bars called Kudos. There were Snickers and M&M granola bars which were quite tasty. I guess I will have to savour the last four that I have.

    November 11th, 2002 -- Posted in Misc | No Comments »

We did it… we got our own domain. It was hard, but we narrowed it down to 10, and SillySpot.com was the winner. In descending preference, the other choices were: gigglespot.com, sillyforlife.com, lifeissilly.com, simplysilly.com, sillyfriends.com, keepitsilly.com, wegiggle.com, sheethog.com, and mindgiggles.com. Other choices (in no particular order) were: twomakesfamily.com, sillytime.com, gigglelife.com, gigglehome.com, sillyhome.com, sillylife.com, lovegiggle.com, and cuddlegiggle.com. Prior to that, we had eliminated: jennanddoug.com, vermiposting.com, vermipooh.com, itsnotfair.com, youscaredme.com, ihatecuddletime.com, ihatebedtime.com, bitmyfinger.com, asinine.com, ewwpooh.com, crazyandsilly.com, wegottablogthis.com, ihaveadisease.com, sitdownwiper.com, dougjenn.com, jenndoug.com, duhgee.com, and jenniferanddoug.com. There were alot more that we checked but weren’t available. This has been a long, arduous journey. Now the rejected domains are available for anyone - if you like any of them and want to register them for yourself — go right ahead!, but could you email us? — we just like to know that you liked our ideas (even the ones that didn’t suit us).
