In a little more than 24 hours I should know my fate for the year. Yikes!! It’s pretty scary when people who have never met the kids are telling you about them and what the position involves. It is usually pretty inaccurate which makes this whole procedure even worse…

Dooms day is on Wednesday.

Dooms day is on Wednesday. Also well known as the cattle call. I will sit for approximately 10-12 hours to find out my job fate for the year. It wouldn’t be so bad if I had some seniority, or if there was some idea of where you would be but what you think no one wants is taken early and you’re left guessing till the end. It is particularly bitter this year since I was moved around for no reason…. still harbouring lots of resentment…

Congratulations to Mieke and John on the safe arrival of Madigan Natasha. She was born yesterday, August 22 weighing 8 pounds 2 ounces. I tried to put her picture up… but can’t figure out how to do that!! Sorry! So you’ll just have to believe me that she is adorable!

I am a blue jeans

August 22nd, 2002 -- Posted in Misc | No Comments »

I am a blue jeans kind of girl and I always buy the same style of shirts and wear them all the time. So, this has been a year of changing me… short hair… new clothes, etc. I am happy with my progress but this whoe wardrobe thing is frustrating. I did have a successful visit to the Revolving Door today (brand name consignment store) as well as a great pair of pants from Old Navy last week. Maybe I’ll be a lady yet…

This whole job placement thing

August 21st, 2002 -- Posted in Silliness | No Comments »

This whole job placement thing ruins my summers. I mean, what’s the point of having two months off if you only spend it worrying. I guess I haven’t really been worried till now as I have been pretty busy. I am looking at working at a high school in the fall as it has great hours so I can spend more time on my other work which would be nice. I don’t know about those early mornings though!!

Wow, the past month has been an eye-opener of jobs available in my field. When I graduated I thought you either worked in groups home or as an educational assistant. I think those were the only placements available as well while I was in school. Anyway, there are lots of exciting opportunities out there… now I just need to find them!!

Cirque Eos was the acrobatic

August 16th, 2002 -- Posted in Misc | No Comments »

Cirque Eos was the acrobatic circus we saw in the Old Port of Montreal. It was pretty incredible and about half the price of Cirque de Soleil.

Jenn will probably write more later, but here’s an overview of our holiday: Stopped off at Trudy vanDyke’s house on Friday night, had some beers to celebrate and relax and fell asleep at 10:00 (I’m a sleepy drinker). Lounged all morning then went to Upper Canada Village in the afternoon. Drove to Montreal after and went for a swim. Went to downtown Old Montreal on Sunday, had a wonderful lunch and shopped and walked. Ended up at the Archeology museum (history of Montreal settlement) and then met up with Mike vanDyke. On Monday we went shopping in Montreal’s underground mall concourse and had lunch at La … I forget the name, but it was a vegetarian buffet that you pay for by weight. Neat idea. We walked downtown at night which was kinda good to see the nightlife of Montreal. Tuesday we went to the Biodome, the Expos dome, the Insectarium, and Jardin/gardens. Swam some more at night. Wednesday we did some more shopping on St.Denis, and at night went to Cirque Eos (kinda like Cirque du Soleil). Lounged on Thursday morning then came home. All quite relaxing. Today we went to the library and for a walk/swim at Lemoine point. Tomorrow we will go to the market, and Sunday maybe Sandbanks. Then it’s back to work for me. A good holiday, I must say.

Phew, we just got back

I fixed out computer! It

August 7th, 2002 -- Posted in Misc | No Comments »

I fixed out computer! It was giving “The Blue Screen of Death” everytime I disconnected from the ‘net, so after trying everything else with Win95, I installed Win98… and it worked. I’m a little nervous ‘cuz it’s not Win98SE, but so far so good (knock on wood). I even got IE6 installed. I’m excited about all of this because it means that our computer is now working at it’s potential, which is way beyond that of our old computer (which is still working well on the network). Anyways… I feel successful and smart.

When we were looking at places to get married, I thought that a funeral home would be an ideal location. There is a chapel, reception room and it would make the job of the people there happy for once!! People all thought I was weird so, needless to say, we got married at a great wedding chapel. Okay, having the wedding in Kleinburg was my first choice. Anyway, I was reading in the paper that a local couple has decided to wed in a historical cemetery here because it is so beautiful. It is Catarqui Cemetery and that is where Sir John A. McDonald is buried. Don Cherry’s family plot is also there. It is a beautiful place and a great place for a wedding…

Parents are so careful what

August 1st, 2002 -- Posted in Misc | No Comments »

Parents are so careful what they name their child. Will their initials be silly, will it sound okay with the last name, etc. Then they go and get married and all the planning goes down the drain. Case in point…. our friend Dan Grace is marrying a girl named Faith…. who will soon be Faith Grace. Cute!!
